Here is some sad news for those of us who kew long time canoer Chuck Weis. Please share with fellow paddlers. - Lynne.
---------------------
Our friend Chuck Weis died on Saturday, having discovered very recently that
he had an advanced and aggressive series of cancers.
His wife, Doris, told me that he would want any donations in honor to be
made to the USCA, to their church (see below), or to the Sierra Club.
She told me that he was devoted to USCA.
There will be a memorial service some time toward the end of March. Doris
will let us know. His body is being cremated today no visitation.
I knew Chuck for about 8 years, a much shorter time than many USCA members.
I will miss him, his style, his storytelling, his humor, and his support of
the sport I enjoy. Many who knew him longer and better will, I know, miss
him even more.
Stories about Chuck will be shared in a future issue of Canoe News. If you
have any of your own, please write to me at nawal@ticon.net
I am so sorry to have to give out this news.
