Schedule of Events
Saturday, June 13:  C1 expert.  Registration at 2:00, briefing at 2:30, race at 3:00.  Also a Standard Class C1, for those with recreational canoes.  Awards at Powers Outdoors following race. The fledgling race will be held after the awards Start will be at Thornapple boat launch and finish in Newaygo. Length aprox 45 min.

Sunday, June 14:  C2  Expert 1  and C2 Expert 2 Registration at 8:00, briefing at 8:30, race at 9:00.  Also Standard Class C2 for those with Recreational canoes, Recreational Classes based on canoe length. Awards at Powers Outdoors following race. T-shirts to all participants .

Course
C2 expert and standard:  Start on Croton Pond (approximately nine miles east of Newaygo) next to the hydo-electric plant.  Paddle across the pond to the Island then counter clockwise around the Island then back to the dam.  Portage dam on the right and carry to the river .  Paddle downriver to Newayago and finish at River Front Park in downtown Newaygo.  Race time is approximately two hours.

C1:  Shore Start at the pine st boat launch for expert. Wet start for standard. Race time is approximately 1.5 hours

*** The MCRA Board has approved supporting a special Mixed Race at Power Paddle in Newaygo. The participating mixed teams will receive the general prize money and an additional bonus. The bonus will match the C-2 to be divided according to MCRA Expert 1 guidelines. We look forward to an outstanding race in Newaygo. ***

Please note this is an endurance event and not for the casual paddler. Participants are on their own once the race is under way and must be fully prepared for any occurance. Proper hydration will be needed. Also every paddler must have a coast guard  approved life vest and a whistle.
