9/10/07 - MCRA members in need of our thoughts and prayers -
The Triebold family. Wes and Christine's baby is still in critical
condition in Wisconsin.
Carla Kolonich called yesterday afternoon and Ken needs our prayers
as well. Ken is a very private guy but Steve and Chris K told me
we could post an update since many paddlers have tried to call.
Ken did suffer a mild heart attack on Sat in Blissfield. He was
later taken to U of M hospital for treatment and evaluation. He
is currently at U of M in Ann Arbor and hopes to go home this week.

9/4/07 - The River Raisin Classic
Canoe Race, Blissfield information is posted
8/29/07 - Hugh Bissonette of Oscoda died on Friday, August
23. There will be a get together in rememberance of him at the
American Legion Hall in Oscoda on Sept. 15th at 11a.m. He and his
brother Bud won the second and third AuSable Marathons. He was
inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. He will be inducted
on Sept. 22 on the MCRA Canoers Monument.

Roscommon Canoe Race Information
is now available. The first MCRA Points race of the year.
4/24/07 - This weekend is the Michigan Trout Season Opener (4/28
- 4/29). Many of the rivers we paddle will be very busy with fisher
men and women. It is encouraged to paddle the larger ponds of the AuSable
and non trout streams this weekend out of respect for our river friends.

Lynne Witte. According to our MCRA By Laws we are to meet the first
weekend of December- tentatively the meeting is Sat. Dec. 2 10 am at
Bob Bradford's house in Lapeer. Thanks to everyone who offered to be
a part of the 2007 Board of Directors. If you expressed an interest
in being a part of the Board but were not elected we can use your expertise

5:00 p.m. MCRA Awards Dinner - Awards will be presented after orders
and dinner is cooking. Once dinner is served you can enjoy your meal. There
will be other guests eating after our get together at the Brewery. They
are predicting a beautiful weekend in the UP. Sorry for the change but
to best serve MCRA they needed to do this.
Following dinner we can get together outdoors at the Brewery or head
back to Paradise for bonfire. The Yukon Inn is not hosting any awards
this year.

Please share
this info with fellow paddlers/ families: I need to give a number
and tentative menu count to the Tahquamenon Fall Brewery so they can
better serve us. If they have a count on the limited menu items Lark
can have the chef ready with preparations and food. There is a kids menu
that can easily be ordered at the time. Their local tradition- Lake Superior
Whitefish (beer battered or broiled) 7oz 10.95, 10 oz. 14.95, Pasta
Primavera (fresh veggies on linguini) $10.95 (with chicken add $2,50),
Filet Mignon 5oz. $14.95, 8 oz. 21.95. All dinners are served with soup
or salad and your choice of brew pub fries, baked potato or rice, and
fresh baked bread. Pasta dinner is served with soup or salad and fresh
baked bread
