The 6th Annual Onaway Canoe Race
C1 and C2 Races
Onaway, Michigan
May 12-13, 2007
Schedule of Events
- Saturday - C-1 Race starts at 5:30
pm.
- Entry fee
is $10 with a purse of $500.
- Race
is the same as last year starting/finishing at Kleber Dam.
- It's a looped course, predominantly a pond race. Finishing time between
40 and 80 minutes.
- Sunday - C-2 Race starts at 10:30 am.
- Entry is $20 with a purse of $1000.
- Race starts and finishes at the boat launch on Tower Pond behind the firehouse/softball
diamond just north of M-68.
- Winning
time will be about 1:45 but most boats will take over 2 hrs.
- There
are still four portages with the longest being about 200 yards.
- A bow cover wouldn't
be a terrible thing to have with you for Kleber Pond.
- There will be pick-up boats on the ponds for turnovers due
to boat wakes at the start.
***Special Interest***
There will be a banquet after the race on Sunday at the fire hall. Unlike
past years, this meal will cost a nominal $5. This meal is provided by
Onaway High School's class of 2008. They will earn all the profits from
the meal so please plan on attending what should be a good meal for a charitable
cause.
