The 7th Annual Onaway Canoe Race
C1 and C2 Races
Onaway, Michigan
May 10-11, 2008
Schedule of Events
- Saturday - C-1 Race starts at 5:30
pm.
- $500 purse. Special C-1 Women's purse sponsored by the MCRA
- Entry Fee $10
- Race
is the same as last year starting/finishing at Kleber Dam on Kleber Pond (Kleber Dam Road).
- It's a looped course. Finishing time between
40 and 80 minutes.
- Sunday - C-2 Race (Expert Pro / Expert II) starts at 10:30 am.
- $1000 purse
- Registration will be in the township hall beginning around 9 am.
- Race starts and finishes at the boat launch on Tower Pond behind the firehouse/softball
diamond just north of M-68.
- Winning
time will be about 1:45 - 2:30.
- There
are four portages with the longest being about 200 yards.
***Special Interest***
Like last year, the Junior Class of Onaway High School organized the sponsors for the race and are providing an after race meal for donations. Last year the MCRA was very generous. Without their help, we probably wouldn't have the race so please plan to attend
